Braces
Braces for greater confidence and improved quality of life. Braces create a more beautiful smile and a balanced facial profile while also helping to achieve a healthy bite and supporting long-term oral health.
Beautiful Smile & Healthy Bite Alignment
Our goal is not only to help you and your child achieve a beautiful, aesthetic smile but also to ensure a healthy bite function. This means that the teeth align evenly, correcting jaw misalignments. Proper bite alignment supports overall health by reducing the risk of gum disease, tooth decay, and tooth loss, while also promoting better oral hygiene.
The Right Age for Braces
01.
All Age Groups
Orthodontic braces can be worn at any age, as long as your teeth and gums are healthy. However, there are certain age ranges in which braces can be particularly effective.
02.
Children
It is advisable to visit an orthodontist with children around the age of 7 to enable early treatment of dental and jaw misalignments. Early intervention can help prevent unfavorable development in time.

Teenagers
Most braces are applied to teenagers between the ages of 12 and 16. At this age, most permanent teeth have erupted, and the jaw is still capable of developing and growing.

Adults
Braces can also be applied in adulthood, as long as the teeth and gums are healthy. Especially invisible braces, such as aligners, allow for a discreet treatment even in professional settings.

Types of Braces
01.
Fixed Braces
With fixed braces, small brackets are attached to the teeth and connected by superelastic archwires, which are adjusted at regular intervals. The brackets can be made of metal or ceramic, making them more or less visible.

Removable braces
Removable braces are appliances that are not fixed to the teeth and can be taken out by you or your child. They consist of a plastic base customized to fit the palate or lower jaw, along with metal clasps that grip around the teeth.
03.
Invisible braces
Invisible braces, also known as clear aligners, are transparent orthodontic devices individually made for you. They are fitted over your teeth and replaced at regular intervals. Aligners are especially popular among adults, but have recently also become available for children and adolescents.

Treatment Process
The exact course of your treatment depends on the type of braces and your individual situation, or that of your child. In general, our treatment is structured into the following stages:
I. Initial Consultation
During the initial consultation, we discuss your expectations and treatment options, as well as those of your child. Based on the preliminary examinations, we define the treatment goals together and outline the next steps.
II. Diagnosis
Subsequently, we conduct a comprehensive examination, including a clinical assessment, X-rays, photographs, and a scan of your teeth. If necessary, a 3D X-ray (DVT) of your teeth or jaw will also be taken.

III. Treatment Planning
Based on these findings, our experts create a detailed treatment plan, which we discuss thoroughly with you and your child.
IV. Treatment
Placement of Braces or Attachments
Fixed braces are attached to your teeth. In the case of an aligner treatment, attachments are placed, and you receive the first set of aligners.
Ongoing Adjustments and Check-Ups
During the treatment, we regularly monitor the progress to ensure your teeth are moving into the correct position and make necessary adjustments to the braces or provide new sets of aligners.
Wearing the Braces
To achieve the best results, it is important to wear your braces consistently. The treatment duration can vary depending on the type and extent of the treatment, ranging from several months up to two years.
Removal of Braces or Attachments
Once your teeth have reached the desired position, we remove the braces or attachments.
V. Retention
Congratulations! After the removal of your braces or attachments, you’ve completed the active treatment phase. To ensure that your teeth remain in their new positions and do not shift back, we now begin the retention phase. This is done using a special retainer, either a thin metal wire attached behind the teeth or removable retainer trays that you wear at night.

Aligners are nearly invisible and removable, making them ideal for discreet corrections. Fixed brackets are permanently attached to the teeth and suitable for more extensive adjustments. Removable braces are designed for children and specific treatment cases.
When adjusting braces, slight discomfort may occur. This is normal and usually subsides quickly.
The duration depends on the complexity of the dental misalignment. On average, treatments last from a few months up to three years. A precise estimate can be provided after an individual consultation.
Removable braces and aligners can be taken out at any time. Fixed brackets remain on the teeth for the entire duration of the treatment and are only removed by an orthodontist.
The cost varies depending on the type of braces and the duration of treatment. We provide individual cost estimates after an initial consultation.

Yes, you can eat and drink normally during treatment. However, hard and sticky foods should be avoided to prevent damage. Removable braces and aligners should be taken out while eating.
Thorough cleaning after every meal is essential. Special brushes and dental floss help keep brackets and spaces between teeth clean. Aligners can be removed for cleaning and soaked in a cleaning solution.
There is a short adjustment period, after which you can speak, eat, and drink as usual. Removable braces offer additional flexibility and discretion.
Typically, a retention phase follows, during which you wear a retainer to keep your teeth in their new position and prevent them from shifting back.
If you have a nickel allergy, inform your orthodontist before starting treatment. There are nickel-reduced or nickel-free alternatives, such as titanium brackets or ceramic brackets, specifically designed for patients with allergies. In many cases, plastic aligners can also be used for treatment. These materials provide a safe and effective way to correct dental misalignments without triggering allergic reactions.
The free orthodontic treatment (Gratis-Zahnspange) is available for children and adolescents up to the age of 18, provided their dental misalignment reaches a certain severity that makes orthodontic treatment medically necessary.
We are happy to check whether you or your child qualify for a free orthodontic treatment. Please note that a free orthodontic treatment is always performed using metal brackets. If you prefer other materials, such as ceramic brackets or aligners, or do not qualify for the free option, we can offer suitable alternatives. Our expert team will gladly advise you!
Orthodontic treatments, including traditional braces and specialized aligners, aim to address both aesthetic and functional issues, such as bite misalignments. Cosmetic aligners primarily focus on improving the appearance of your smile by correcting minor tooth misalignments without treating complex bite problems. For comprehensive corrections, a professional orthodontic assessment and treatment is recommended, which you can gladly receive at our clinic.
Attachments are small bumps bonded to specific teeth to give aligners additional grip and to help achieve precise tooth movements during treatment. Interproximal polishing, also called interproximal reduction (IPR), involves removing small amounts of enamel between teeth to create space and correct crowding. Both techniques enhance the effectiveness of aligner treatment.
